Try and stop me!

Woah, I'm on a roll these last few days. Yet another FO! I started this scarf last night, and finished about half an hour ago. It's made with 2 of the 4 balls of the alpaca silk i got from the debbie bliss club (i decided against making the beret and cravat because i don't think i'd ever wear either of them). It was gorgeous to knit with, so silky and soft and just glided over the needles!

The colour is more realistic in the left hand photo. I still don't know what I'm going to do with the other 2 balls yet. More to add to the pile!

Next I intent to finish Sally's bag. Then I will finish those socks. THEN, I shall cast off that damn silkychic thing, THEN I shall finish Charlotte. And I won't start anything else until all those are done. (HAH, yeah right!)

So people do pay attention to what I ramble on about in here! It seems at least one of you has clicked a link to Olney Rugs because Daddy dearest managed to find this blog and has been having a good laugh, I'm sure! (I wouldn't really smack you round the head for forgetting the USB cable Dad...but I might not let you have any of the apple pie I just made!) I bet he doesn't leave one single comment! Hmf!

Anyway, knitting. Knitting is what this is about. FUZZY FEET! Oh how I love thee. I knitted a whole foot in one go yesterday. It took me about 6 hours. I love the fact I have nothing to do at work, so get to come home early and knit.

These are noro kureyon fuzzy feet (can't be bothered to go and check colour number) Slightly under 50g per foot. I bought 3 balls because all the other people i've seen who've made these have said you need slightly over 100g, and i had a fairish bit left from each 50g ball i used! Though I did do them slightly smaller. The cuff was just barely 3", and the length just barely 9", and after the heel i decreased to 40 (or was it 39? Can't remember) instead of back to 44. They felted wonderfully, and I love the colours in them! Now i just have to wait for them to dry before I can try them on.
No doubt Mum'll want some next! hehe.

Shiney Pretty Things

Y'know, I can be an absolute GENIUS sometimes. To solve the Dad-stealing-my-camera-and-leaving-the-USB-cable-at-work problem, instead of giving Dad a smack round the head, i bought another USB cable instead. See? GENIUS!
This also means photos again. Here's some of the stitch markers I made the other day. Most of them are 4mm ones, apart from the two on the right end which are 7mm.

The others are currently being occupied by my second pair (MY pair) of fuzzy feet...

How much are we betting I've completely buggerised the HTML in this entry?

The fuzz

I was so SO pleased with how my fuzzy feet turned out! The one that went wrong still looked a bit funny but never mind, eh!
It seems my dad liked them a lot as well, and has now claimed them as his own. (I think trying to get them away from him might be a dangerous move!) I did get to wear them for a day before he "acquired" them though!

I've just cast on number 1 of my pair, in noro kureyon :)

Also, last night, I decided i hate hate HATE those horrible plastic stitch markers I have, so I dug out my jewellery making junk and wipped up about 8 in a few minutes! I made 6 more this morning as well. Photos will be taken when Father dearest remembers to bring the USB cable home as well as the camera!

Another revelation last night was that my Auntie still has my red DM's! I must get them back now i have those party feet things, I'll be able to wear them without being crippled! I never knew so much pain could be caused by a pair of shoes. I wore them to college all day, then trecked to Nottingham where I met my brother and went to see Incubus, then trecked back to Northampton for another day at college. College was a miles walk from the bus stop as well, so by the time I got home I couldn't walk another step! I learnt my lesson from that and only ever wear my vans when I know I'm going to be walking a fair way.
Talking of Vans, Oliver was supposed to go to Schuh to pick up my new ones for me yesterday and I still don't know if he did.

Last night I went to the quiz night at Sally's. She said she'd take me to see Mark Owen for my birthday! Tried to book the tickets this morning and it's sold out! I'm absolutely gutted! However, we might go and see Hanson instead. It's twice the price but hey, these cheesey bands are so worth it. The thing is Sally might not be able to do Hanson weekend. So we shall be waiting and seeing and she's letting me know tonight.
I can't believe it's eight years since we last saw Mark Owen! I can't believe I was 12! I can't believe Sally and I are still such great friends after surviving Hatton AND college together! I can't believe my mother took us to see Mark Owen! haha. Aaah...them were the days :)

Whatatwat.

So that last entry about my Nanny? Ignore it completely, because the doctor seems to be a twat. He phoned up Grandpa making it sound like she only had weeks to live, yet on Tuesday Mum took her to the hospital for some more tests, and saw her xray. What this doctor had made out to be something horrific, was the tiniest lump which could hardly be seen on the xray at the top of her lung. The consultant didn't seem concerned in the slightest, just said to bring her back for some more tests in 10 weeks time! So we're slightly annoyed with the GP at the moment.

In other news, my fuzzy feet are in the washing machine as I type!

You can probably tell that the one on the left is the one that went inside out half way through. I was going to frog it but I couldn't be bothered to knit it again so I've just stuck it in the washing machine and I'm hoping for the best, haha.

More photos when they're done!

The magical disappeaing act

I have a tendancy to go through phases with blogs. I have a lot of them, so it's hard to keep up sometimes! But there are time when i update about 5 times a day with pointless drivel. There are other times when i don't update for weeks at a time. Sometimes it's just one blog i don't update, sometimes it's all of them. This time it's been all of them. IAM usually gets a "Work was boring today. That is all." kind've update once a day, but no essays in quite a while.
So, as it's saturday morning and i'm lazing around in my PJs I thought i'd give this one an update (though i have my doubts to whether anyone reads it or not!)

I must admit I've been slacking on the knitting front recently. It's either been too cold to knit (is there such a thing? Unfortunately i can't knit with gloves on!), or i've been too tired (yes, despite finishing work at 1pm for the past week!) or i've been engrossed in GTA Vice City (I own a large mansion, a helicopter, several properties and a strip club now, dontchaknow!). But I have been doing little bits. I've been knitting a bag for Sally for weeks now. It's tiny, but i've only been doing 3 or 4 rows at a time. Charlotte has hardly moved on at all. I feel quite guilty about that for some reason. But it's not the kind of project i can knit whilst watching TV because i need to concentrate so much on the pattern, and i do get easily distracted.
I also intend to start me some FuzzyFeet soon! After forking out £7.50 for some 7mm DPNs (yes, extortionate, i know!) i realised i didn't have enough of the yarn i intended to use. I thought i had 200g, turns out i have 92g. Yes, i am a fool. However, i think i have enough rowan yorkshire tweed left over from Dad's wine cozy to make some from that. So that is what i shall do.

Also, we have decided we're going to Venice this year! We being myself, my mum, dad and brother. Oli (brother) is at university in the 4th year of his medical degree at the moment. He's mainly working in hospitals and he gets hardly any time off. He's got a few days at the end of march so we decided to go away together. Me and Mum spent about 2 hours searching the expedia website and found a really nice hotel. However, just as we were literally about to press "book this package" the phone rang.
It was Grandpa. My Nanny's been in a care home for a while now. She has dementia caused by several mini strokes. Over the past 2 or 3 months she's gone down hill really fast. She had to go in to hospital for a chest xray last week because her face and hands had been getting all swollen. So her doctor rang my Grandpa a couple of nights ago. The xray showed a shadow on her lung. They originally thought it might be fluid, but the Dr said it doesn't look like it. It's most probably lung cancer, so there's not much hope any more. There is no point in putting a tiny frail old lady through any kind of treatment when the quality of life she leads now is so poor. It seems it just come down to a matter of waiting for her to die. It's horrible seeing Mum so upset about it all. We knew she wouldn't be around much longer anyway, but this just seems to have made it all so much more definate. It's horrible to see her suffering, and to see her so confused. It doesn't seem right that we should have to draw this out any longer. If she were an animal she's be put down to stop any suffering, it seems wrong to me that animals are given more dignity than humans. I know the her of 6 or 7 years ago would hate to see herself as she is now. It just isn't fair.
