Back again

I thought I should do a proper update, considering it's been quite a while since I posted anything of any interest. Not that this post will be much different, but I do have knitting photos this time!

First off we have a not-very-good-photo of the Plaited Scarf from Debbie Bliss Home. Such a simple pattern, and so so nice. 3 balls of cashmerino superchunky (one of each colour) done in a 1x1 rib. It's so warm. Not as long as I'd usually make a scarf, but it's just the right lenght to tie up instead of loop through.

There'll be a proper, decent photo when it's daylight again.

I have also done 2 simple hats, one for me and one for my Dad. I made mine and then Dad wanted one, which was quite good because I'd bought 2 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca Cotton when I went to Loop with the Knitty ladies, and one hat = one skein. Simple 4x4 rib. There is a photo of Dad and I together wearing our hats but I had to use the flash so every single spot on my face shows up and no one wants to see that. So this one'll have to do.

I'm also half way through a pair of fuzzy feet. I finished cashmere sock number 1 only to realise that despite going up a couple of needle sizes for the cast off, it still came out too tight and I now have to undo it, which will be done probably when I'm off work for christmas and have stopped being in a bad mood with it. I've also finished a simple garter stitch scarf in rowan big tuft which my Mum asked me to knit for her then forgot about, so i'll be giving that to her for christmas. I also have a plan for gloves. I have some fingerless gloves with mitten flaps that I've had for a couple of years now. They're very good for typing and the like, but I still end up with frost bite on my thumb, and spraying de-icer in the morning isn't very easy with mittens. So, instead of knitting a whole new pair of gloves, I'm going to knit fingers for my gloves and sew them on. They'll probably be a different colour, but they'll be interesting, and warm!

And speaking of christmas, I only have 3 more presents to buy, and 2 of them are secret santa presents so will probably end up being chocolate.

In just over a week I'm off to London again to visit Vicky. I've booked the 5th, 6th and 7th off work. On the 5th I'm going to Milton Keynes with Sally. On the 7th I'm in London, and on the 8th I'll be present wrapping.

I'm still waiting for this arctic winter we're supposed to be having. I find it hard to believe it's going to happen when I look on the BBC website and it says it's going to be 11 degrees on Thursday this week!

Oh, and TAKE THAT ARE DOING ANOTHER TOUR! I was so excited I almost peed in my pants when I heard.

Most boring day ever?

Today, work went something like this...

6:20am Wake up, get dressed, wash, have breakfast, check internet.
7:09am: Sit in car waiting for it to de-mist, drive to work, sing along to Jamie Cullum.
7:34am: Arrive at work. Turn on computer, make coffee, wait for computer to start up (windows 95 y'know...we're SO technologically advanced at the DVLA that we don't even have an internet connection).
7:50am: Log on to VSS. Realise entire BF diary is done. Read book.
9:30am: Go to post room. Open post.
9:55am: Post is opened (post opening is usually an all day job), send out 1 letter, file 1 microfilm, shred 1 microfilm.
10:05am: Make more coffee, read book.
12:15pm: Lunch.
12:45pm: More coffee, read book.
1:30pm: Take some boxes down to the skip.
1:40pm: More coffee, read book.
3:30pm: Go home.

On the plus side, I have read half of Going Postal by Terry Pratchett in one day - I'm on the phones tomorrow and friday so I'll probably have finished it by saturday!

Last weekend I went over to Olney to The Knit Tin (online store is coming very soon, there's been technical problems!), got myself some Rowan big tuft to make my Mum a scarf, and 2 balls of Noro Kureyon for some more fuzzy feet (last years developed a rather large hole in the heel from wearing them 24/7). Then I came home and ordered 3 balls of Debbie Bliss cashmerino superchunky in 3 different shades of blue, to make the plaited scarf from the new Home book, and 6 balls of Debbie Bliss cotton DK in brown to make the humbug pillow. I really really like the new Home book - there are at least 6 things in it I want to make! The plaited scarf, the humbug pillow, the gloves, the felted tea cozy, the felted bag, 2 different pairs of cabled socks, a cabled bag...just great stuff! And with my Get Knitted order, i got another pen (which is great, because my other one is at work!) and a heart shaped lolly, which i am eating at this very moment.

On sunday I knit about 2 inches of the leg of cashmere sock number 1. I posted a photo of it on the tiny circs a few weeks ago, then when i started the heel realised i had WAY too many stitches, so ripped it all back and started again. I'm quite impressed, it took me weeks and weeks to get to the heel before and this time it took me 1 week to do the foot, 1 night to do the heel, and 1 day to get up to the ribbing. Ribbing shall be done this weekend because my index finger is slightly red.

Friday, November 4

Work has been mind numbingly dull at work this week - it's been so quiet. There has literally been nothing at all to do all week. There were 16 people off today, and a few only doing half a day...and from 2pm onwards I was sitting at my desk doodling on my mousemat. Though I shouldn't complain, this time next week we'll be rushed off our feet because letters go out tomorrow.

Nothing exciting's been happening. Tomorrow I'm going to the opticians (at last), I'll going and see Julie while I'm there as well. On sunday I'm going to the cinema with Nicolarse to see The Corpse Bride - can't wait! I <3 Tim Burton! I've also not seen Nicky in ages, so It'll be good to go out again.

But as my life is so amazingly boring at the moment, i shall come back when i have something more interesting to say.
